The Unforgotten Football legend.


- On the 23 of October 1963 the great footballer, Rashidi Yekini was born in Kaduna State, Nigeria
- He got the 1993 African Footballer of the Year and Super Eagle's highest goal scorer with 37 goals,
- Rashidi netted Nigeria's first-ever goal at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, a 3–0 win against Bulgaria. His celebration after scoring became one of the iconic images of the tournament.
- He was reported to be ill for an extended period of time. In 2011, news media in Nigeria begun issuing reports of his failing health, and he was said to suffer from bipolar disorder, some other undisclosed psychiatric condition.
- The great legend died on the 4th of May 2012 at the young age of 48 in Ibadan. The news was confirmed by former national teammate Ike Shorunmu and Mutiu Adepoju.
- Rashidi Yekini was buried in his hometown in Ira, Kwara State.
